Cybercrime law and the evils that can stem from it

R.A. 10175, the Cybercrime Law, has many good points. It provides protection for cyberbullying, identity theft, child pornography, hacking, etc. But all the good has been tarnished by the inclusion of Cyber-libel and provisions that give undue and overwhelmingly easy to abuse powers that would shackle our freedom of expression and rights to privacy. The worst part is allowing monitoring and seizure of your private information online without due process and a court order.

The

y say that we have nothing to worry about. They say we should just ignore it. But as the image above says: All it takes for evil to win, is for good to do nothing.

If the only way to prevent oppression and abuse of power is to scrap the Cybercrime law, along with all the good it could have done, then so be it and start over. You have the power to make it happen. The government should serve you, the people, not the other way around. Fight for your right to freedom of expression, information, and protection of your privacy. You are the heroes!
